Night Life

For those who are more about the party scene, Toronto’s clubbing district is very popular with the night owls of the city; and has several popular night clubs to choose from that vary in crowd and genre of music. Surrounding the many clubs are larger restaurants that cater to big and rowdy groups. If you find yourself wandering these parts very early in the morning, you can be sure to see huge lines of people waiting for their hotdog from one of the many street vendors.

If you love Jazz music, the The Distillery District is full with great patios, food, live music, and shops. One of the nicer places to hover around during summer time. The Distillery District is Toronto’s first pedestrian only village and the city’s only historic district.

Bars / Lounges

The Bier Markt: Great live music and a selection of over 100 beers from around the world always has this place busy on a Friday or Saturday night. For these two reasons alone the place makes for a great hang out. If the Esplanade location is too busy, loud, and crowded for you, check out the much cozier 600 King Street West location. As far as food goes, one can expect great and flavorful mussels as well as great fondue.

The Drake Hotel (1150 Queen Street West) is surrounded by trendy shops, and truly is one of the best patios and nicely decorated places in town. Great martini’s too! If you’re a big Martini fan The Devil’s Martini is another great spot.

Madison’s (14 Madison, at Bloor) a maze of interconnected rooms spread over three Victorian row houses. Has a brit pub look and seems to be popular amongst hockey fans and young teachers.

Loose Moose (146 Front W.) is a massive sports bar that can get pretty rowdy on game night. A fan favorite for sports fans.

Night Clubs

Circa (126 John Street) is one of the most beautiful looking clubs in Toronto. The club is complete with costumed models, bars that light up with your touch, and artistic sceneries that will have you taking tons of pictures. If you’re not into dance music, the music will probably annoy you, but it’s worth checking out at least once just for the way it’s set up.

Tattoo Rock Parlor (567 Queen St. W) represents one of the best places to be if you love rock music. The decor is beautiful, and you can even get a real tattoo before getting in!

C- Lounge (456 Wellington St. West) is great for R&B lovers while Seven (224 Richmond St) plays a nice mix of hip hop and R&B.

ANDY POOLHALL (489 College) is a rather large club complete with five nice pool tables. Music can be pretty random, but it’s always fun to dance to. Lounge area is pretty sexy!

Dance Cave [529 Bloor W (2nd floor)] is loved by students for its free cover. Serves up alternative rock.

Tonic (117 Peter, at Richmond W) is a rather large mainstream dance club that attracts a younger crowd. Not particularly upscale, but dress code is in effect on weekends.

Guvernment‘s (132 Queens Quay E) a pretty massive complex made up of smaller clubs and lounges. Has a little bit of everything, aims to please as many people as it possible can.

Cheap Drinks

Wednesday: Hey Lucy (295 King Street West) has some of the yummiest martini’s for less than $4. Service is horrible, so be sure to order more than one drink at a time.

Thursdays: Crocodile Rock’s (240 Adelaide Street West) martinis aren’t as good as Hey Lucy’s, but for less than $5 each it’s hard to complain. An added bonus is the half price appetizers.

Sneaky Dee’s (431 College Street) is good for cheap drinks on any other day of the week!
